God's Unstoppable Mercy

How much sin is too much sin for God to still be merciful to you? In the story of God's deliverance of Israel in Judges 4, we see that if God wants to have mercy on us, then there's nothing we can do to stop Him. That's because God's mercy isn't based on our actions, but on His supreme love that cannot be earned and cannot be lost by what we do...no matter how bad.

Prayer: What's the point?

Why do we pray? Have you been disappointed by unanswered prayer? Does prayer really make a difference in our lives? Does prayer change circumstances? How should we pray? These are honest questions concerning prayer that we must wrestle with if we are going to grow spiritually. What happens when we pray just might surprise you. There are several reasons Jesus modeled a consistent prayer life for us. In Matthew 6:5-15 Jesus addresses the heart of prayer: sincerity. He gives us a pattern of prayer: The Lords Prayer (vs.9-13). And He reminds us in verses 14-15 that forgiveness is key to prayer. What would your life look like if you began to earnestly seek God in prayer? What would our churches look like? If a law was passed forbidding you to pray would your daily routine look any different? Prayer makes a difference. Through prayer, real prayer, we allow God to change us. We become more like Jesus!

"Can You See?"

One of the hardest questions we can answer honestly is: "What corner of the darkness do we cherish?" Jesus says we love the darkness, but He offers us hope because He offers us Himself. Jesus tells us that He's the Light of the World, and He calls us to believe and follow Him out of our darkness that we love so much and into the freedom, life, and light of the gospel.

Why The Metro-East Needs Missionaries

While in Athens, Paul adjusted his style of presenting the gospel by going into the marketplace and presenting the Gospel and by reasoning with the conservative and liberal thinkers of the day. Paul studied their culture and understood their values, before he presented the Gospel to them. Where are the places in our community that we might go to engage and connect with people? Are we able to understand the values and the culture of the people that we want to impact with the Gospel?

A Christ-Centered Gospel for A Me-Centered World

Do you relate to God on His terms (i.e. the gospel) or your terms (i.e. religion)? When we really get that a right relationship with God is only possible His way, that changes everything about how we relate to Him and to others.
