<title>Sweet Hour of Prayer Scripture Praying</title>
<description>We have been considering important elements of prayer. We have filled in the first three sections of our prayer clock. First there should be a time of &quot;Praise.&quot; Followed by a quiet time of &quot;Waiting&quot; which prepares us for a time of &quot;Confession.&quot; Next comes a time of claiming the promises of Scripture. Knowledge of the Scriptures is important to every aspect of the Christian life. But it is extremely important to a successful prayer life!

  <title>Closing The Books On 2011</title>
<description>As we move into the New Year we need to ask ourselves this question: What Should We, As Believers, Be Doing? Let me give you some thoughts on what I believe we as Christian should be doing as we “Close the Books on 2011” and look forward to 2012.

  <title>Wonder of His Birth</title>
<description>Christmas Day we celebrate the birth of our Savior and our minds turn to thoughts of that glorious time when God became a man. We generally turn to the Gospel accounts to find the Christmas message and yet it is found throughout the Scriptures. We want to consider two verses from Paul&#039;s epistle to the Galatians which captures the Wonder of Christ’s Birth and presents the message of Christmas giving us: THE WHEN – THE HOW AND THE WHY of Christmas.

<title>It Is Beginning To Look a Lot Like Christmas</title>
<description>Most secular Christmas songs talk about the &#039;look&#039; of Christmas. You can&#039;t drive a block in most neighborhoods without seeing colored lights or those inflatable characters on someone&#039;s lawn. It&#039;s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! BUT THE QUESTION YOU AND I MUST ASK OURSELVES: Is this what Christmas is supposed to look like? That is the thought we will consider in this sermon. The &#039;world&#039; has an idea of what it should look like. But its view leaves out the most important part - Jesus Christ!

  <title>Sweet Hour of Prayer - Confession</title>
<description>Having honored God with vocal praise and silent love, the door for truly effective praying is opened. At this point it is necessary that we deal with personal sin. If an awareness of our past failures causes us to feel unworthy and results in our not praying, then the enemy has won the victory in our lives. We need to believe the promises of God in these matters. God has given us the way to deal with our sin. 1 John. 1:9 - &quot; If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” We must confess our sin to God.

  <title>Sweet Hour of Prayer - Thanksgiving</title>
<description>Thanksgiving is the act of expressing specific gratitude to God for blessings He has bestowed upon us. It differs from PRAISE - in that praise focuses on “Who God is” Whereas THANKSGIVING focuses on “What God has done for us.” In today&#039;s sermon we discuss: THE ATTITUDE OF THANKSGIVING and THE ACTUAL THANKSGIVING.

  <title>Sweet Hour of Prayer - Waiting</title>
<description>After spending time praising God for Who He is, we come to the second sermon in our series &quot;Waiting.&quot; Psalm 46:10a says: &quot;Be still and know that I am God:&quot; We found out: 1. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO &quot;WAIT ON GOD&quot;? 2. WHAT SHOULD BE THE FOCUS OF OUR WAITING? and 3. WHAT IS THE VALUE OF WAITING?</description>

  <title>Sweet Hour of Prayer: Praise</title>
<description>There are a number of Jesus&#039; prayers recorded in Scripture but only once did He say, &quot; After this manner therefore pray ye:&quot; He left his disciples with just one prayer as an example upon which to base their praying. The first ten words of this important prayer provide believers with a biblical foundation for beginning prayer with a season of praise. &quot; Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.&quot; So our prayer time should include in the first few moments some time for setting apart God&#039;s name as the object of our worship. During these moments our sole purpose should be to bring God glory with our words.Praise is the fundamental way of glorifying God! So the first section on our &#039;prayer clock&#039; should be praise!

  <title>Don&#039;t Be Ignorant</title>
<description>The Christians at Thessalonica believed in the Second Coming of Christ. They believed He could come at any moment. While they waited for Him to come some of the believers died. Those who were left thought that those who had died had missed the return of Christ. So Paul writes here to dispel their ignorance, to give assurance to their hearts, and to make this wonderful and inseparable connection between the death of believers and the Second Coming of Christ.

  <title>Insurance or Assurance</title>
<description>Do you know the difference between “Insurance” and “Assurance”? Nearly all of us have an insurance policy. This policy is insurance to assure us that we will be taken care of in case of a problem. The insurance remains in effect as long as we pay the premiums on the policy. However - if we don&#039;t make the payments - the policy is canceled - and we no longer will be protected. ASSURANCE - on the other hand - is not based upon the payment of premiums; But on the fact that all the premiums have already been paid!
