Of course, they don't come out and say, "I wonder if God really loves me." But in little comments like, "I sure hope I make it to heaven," or "I think I'll get to heaven, but I'm not sure," they're betraying a mindset of insecurity. It could be argued that, really, they're questioning God's resolve to love us. In those times, we might be tempted to second-guess our faith. In Romans 8:18-30, Paul assures us that God will reward us, but it's likely that the full effect of the "new life" will not be realized in this life.
