God Works

When we fail to believe or lose sight that God is an all powerful, all knowing, ever present God, we live in a constant state of fear. As a result, we will run to idols to alleviate our insecurity and uncertainty. God works just as much in the unseen as He does in the seen.

Identity Crisis

What does the Christian life look like? Once we become a Christian, does Jesus leave us on our own to figure out the Christian life? Romans 8. 1- 11 tells us that there are two ways that we relate to God: life in the flesh and life in the Spirit. Our identity in Christ is primary. Our being has to precede our doing, otherwise we are simply under the law doing good things.

Dead to Sin, Alive to God

The Apostle Paul addresses Christians who still wrongly believe that they are enslaved to sin even though they are in Christ. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ we have been freed from the penalty and the power of sin. The lie for many Christians is to reverse, dead to sin and alive to God, and live as if we are dead to God and alive to sin. When we fail to believe this transformational truth, it radically reshapes how we live out the mission of God.

Once and for All

One of the best ways to be deceived about the world is to watch the news. The news tells us that current events are changing the world, but in reality the world has already changed in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The Cost of Discipleship

Jesus makes it very clear what it is going to cost people to follow him. He wants everything, complete allegiance to him and nothing else. He speaks this simple and profound message to this crowd. Everyone must stop and count the cost of following Jesus.
