Indeed, all authority under heaven and earth has been given to Him, and at His Name every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that He is Lord! He is the Lover of our souls and the Lifter of our heads. Upon His work our very salvation finds its substance in His substitutionary death; our hope of glory is in His indwelling righteousness, our promise of heaven is in His resurrection from the grave! He is the central post upon which our religion is built. It is therefore also the purpose of the devil by any and every means to deceive all of mankind, and specifically to deceive them concerning the person of Jesus. Delusions of every sort all serve the purpose of detracting from the centrality of Jesus Christ in the lives of men. The very purpose of deception is to cloud the mind and keep men from following after Him with everything they are. Contrarily, the cure for deception is Jesus Christ. Knowing and obeying His commands is a salve to blind eyes. Drawing near to Him is the cure for deaf ears. Fixing our eyes on Him will keep us from being bogged down in distraction and busyness. If we will set Him in the proper place (as King of Kings and Lord of Lords) in our lives, all other details will fall into place as a result. This is the attitude of a Christianity that is more concerned with her own kingdom than God’s. God has called His people to be completely consumed with Him. Instead, too often we are distracted by all the details of life. Further, when we fail to place His purposed as the utmost priority, we fall away from the Truth in our thinking and our actions. Most Christians think that they will never take the mark of the beast, but we must ask ourselves, whose image are we being conformed to now? Many Christians think that they would die for Christ, but we must ask ourselves who are we living for now? Are our thoughts, concerns, and actions sowing toward God’s Kingdom, or are we more concerned with our own lives? Now is, in fact, the time to rebuild the House of the Lord–and the Scripture declares that we are His temple! The devil is out to destroy the Kingdom of God, and he desires to pull us aside from following after God with our whole-hearts. Christian need the kind of vibrant, living faith that will weather the storm and stand firm for God when trials come. There are things happening all over the world which try the faith of believers everywhere, and these trials will come to ALL who claim the name of Christ-not only on the global and national levels, but on the personal level of each individual believer. "Everyone who is born of God overcomes the world. This is our victory which overcomes the world: even our faith." Abraham, Gideon and Joshua amongst many other Biblical heroes faced circumstances which were literally impossible but they overcame them by their faith. What about us? Will we have the type of faith that overcomes the world when we face trials or persecution? Will we continue to follow Jesus when our circumstances seem impossibly difficult? Will we hold on and stand firm no matter what comes our way? When Jesus returns, will He find faith on the earth? Don't abandon your faith! Hold on, for "He who promised is faithful!" He was confident that the life he was living was so reflective of Christ that others could be come into the knowledge of God by emulating him. So many these days want to say "Do as I say, not as I do." The message seems to be that Christianity is a good idea in the marketplace of ideas, but we Christians are not its representatives. Contrarily, the testimony of Paul's life was the same as the testimony of his lips because of his firm convictions. Like Joshua when Joshua spied out the land, Paul was utterly convinced of the Truth, and his life consequently shouted that Truth from the mountaintops. Caleb was a man who served God fully, with his whole heart. His faith was deep-seated, and it did not move even though he spent many years serving God without realizing the promise that had been given to him. So, too, we should live with the promise of eternity ever before us. This type of faith will not just change our words, but our actions.
