Real Faith

What we see this morning from our text:
1. Jesus Christ is a sovereign Savior.
2. Saving faith is created by God not responded to by God.
3. There is such a thing as false faith.

Cleansing the Temple

From our text this morning I want you to see three ways that the Lord Jesus, by cleansing the Temple, set in motion the events that would lead ultimately to His crucifixion.

1. By cleansing the Temple He publicly displayed His messianic authority.
2. By cleansing the Temple He fulfilled the Scripture.
3. By cleansing the Temple He prophesied of His coming glory.

The Wedding at Cana

What I would like to do this morning is pose three questions about verse 11 and answer them from our text this morning so that we can understand the significance of this first miracle. Let me give you these three questions.

Verse 11 says this was the first of His signs. So:
1. Why did God intend this miracle to be the first sign?

Verse 11 says this miracle manifested Christ's glory. So:
2. How did turning water into wine manifest His glory?

Verse 11 says that His disciples believed in Him as a result of this miracle. So:
3. What about this miracle made them believe?

Come and See

I want you to see three reasons that we like Philip can tell people to come and see. First we need to see that:

1. The Lord Jesus knows everything about the people that we bring to Him.
2. The Lord Jesus knows what the people we bring need to hear.
3. The Lord Jesus knows what spiritual truths need to be revealed to the people that we bring to Him.

All three of these will point to the biblical fact that the Lord is sovereign over those who are brought to Him and those who will believe. There may be guessing on our part but there will be none on the Lord’s part.

Christmas Eve Service - Christ's Humiliation

These passages show five characteristics Christ exhibited in His incarnation (verses 6-8), which is the Christmas story. Then we see six characteristics by which Christ's life, death, and resurrection are manifested when the mind of Christ is at work in the church (verses 1-2). In order to exhibit these characteristics, we are to follow the commands found in verses 3-4.

The First Steps in Christian Discipleship

What I want you to see from our text this morning are four basic characteristics of biblical discipleship. These four characteristics will mark out every true believer.

1. There is marked response of believing the Gospel. (35-37)
2. There is a true desire to learn from the Lord. (38-39)
3. There is an unquenchable passion to evangelize. (40-42a)
4. There is an unmistakable change in the disciple. (42)

The Baptism With the Holy Spirit 3: The Spirit Empowered Church

What I would like for you to see today is two reasons we are given the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. We will look at several texts today.
1. We are given the Baptism with the Holy Spirit because of the sovereign will of God.
2. We are given the Baptism with the Holy Spirit for the purpose of the glory of God.

He Who Baptizes With the Holy Spirit 2: The Eschatological Nature of the Church

He Who Baptizes With the Holy Spirit

This morning what I would like to do is ask four questions about the baptism with or in the Holy Spirit and attempt to answer them as fully as possible in a reasonable amount of time. Here are the questions.

1. Who baptizes with the Holy Spirit?
2. What does the baptism with the Holy Spirit mean and look like?
3. Why should we all receive the baptism with the Holy Spirit?
4. How do we receive the baptism with the Holy Spirit?
