  <title>Right Side Up Attitude</title>
<description>Before we can be humbled by the Spirit we must understand the clear theology of how God became Man in Jesus Christ while not ceasing to be God - known as the forever Godman Jesus Christ.

The Nicean Creed is very instrumental in lending to this understanding:
1. Jesus Christ is described as &quot;God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,&quot; proclaiming his divinity. When all light sources were natural, the essence of light was considered to be identical, regardless of its form.

   2. Jesus Christ is said to be &quot;begotten, not made&quot;, asserting his co-eternalness with God, and confirming it by stating his role in the Creation. Basically, they were saying that Jesus was God, and God's son, not a creation of God.

   3. He is said to be &quot;from the substance of the Father,&quot; in direct opposition to Arianism. Eusebius of Caesarea ascribes the term homoousios, or consubstantial, i.e., &quot;of the same substance&quot; (of the Father), to Constantine who, on this particular point, may have chosen to exercise his authority.

But profoundly described by C.S. Lewis in the quote from Miracles:
&quot; In the Christian story God descends to reascend. He comes down, down from the heights of absolute being into time and space, down into humanity, down further still, down to the very roots and sea bed of the nature He had created. But He goes down to come up again and bring the ruined world up with Him. One has the picture of a strong man stooping lower and lower to get himself underneath some great complicated burden. He must stoop in order to lift. He must also disappear under the load before he incredibly straightens his back and marches off with the whole mass swaying on his shoulders. Or one may think of a diver, first reducing himself to nakedness then glancing in mid air, then gone with a splash, vanished, rushing down through green and warm water into black and cold water, down through increasing pressure into the death-like region of ooze and slime and old decay. Then up again, back to color and light, his lungs almost bursting till suddenly he breaks surface again, holding in his hand the dripping precious thing that he went down to recover. He and it are both colored now that they have come up into the light. Down below where it lay colorless in the dark, he lost his color, too. In this descent and reascent, everyone will recognize a familiar pattern, a thing written all over the world.”

<title>Secure in Christ From The Inside Out</title>
  <description>Outward Appearance
Anyone who has ever taught or attempted to lead others knows the tendency in all of us toward exaggerating our depth of character while treating leniently our flaws. The Bible calls this tendency hypocrisy. We consciously or subconsciously put forward a better image of ourselves than really exists. The outward appearance of our character and the inner reality (that only God, we, and perhaps our family members know) do not match.
C. S. Lewis explains the conflict in The Four Loves.
