The Team

We are all on the same team - God's team - working together for the common good of the Kingdom. We need each other, because we all have different roles to fill. Together we can make a stronger Kingdom impact. How to serve? Honor God with your service. Strive for excellence in the person God has made you, and travel the path that brings blessings to others.

The Servants

By God's design the church is to be filled with servants. In Acts 6 we see there was a need for servants to take some of the workload off the church elders. What do these Biblical servants look like? They are men of good repuation and filled with integrity; men who are willing to look beyond their own interests and serve others; and men who are willing to accept oversight over Kingdom tasks. God's vision is that His church would grow and we all have a role to play.

The Leaders

God's design for church leaders is that they must follow before leading. Leaders are charged to feed God's church and it's important to lead by example. Jesus demonstrated humble leadership by washing the disciples' feet. The church that is led by God will look like God because we are to elevate Jesus, not ourselves.

The Head

Jesus is the Head of the church and when we try to take control we get in trouble. We are created to be connected to the Head, but if we break that connection we don't grow and wander from the path God has for us. Jesus is our adhesive in broken times. He wants to mend us, but we have to allow Him. Our attachment to the Head brings harmony to the body. We each have different roles to play, but we have a common goal and a common authority.

What Will You Do With Jesus This Year?

What are your New Year's resolutions - lose weight, eat better, exercise, get on a budget? Our relationship with Jesus should be at the top of the list. First, we must believe in Jesus. He is the risen Savior who saves us from our sins. Then look to Jesus and focus on Him. We can also learn from Jesus as we become more like Him. And we can worship Jesus because as believers we not only know who we are, we know where we're going.

We Celebrate What We Value

We celebrate for many reasons - personal, family, sporting events, but God calls us to celebrate certain events for certain reasons. Passover was a celebration to remember what God had done for the Jewish nation and to look forward that He would continue to provide for them. A New Testament example of a celebration is the Lord's Supper. Together, as the body of Christ, we can celebrate what God did for us through Jesus and have faith that we'll spend eternity with Him.

The Impact of Obedience

Joseph went through some confusing circumstances, but chose to be obedient, and was used to help change the world. We learn that we should trust that God's plans are the best. We should also focus on God and not the circumstance. Lastly, we should strive to please God and not others. Because of his obedience, God used Joseph. God wants to use us, also.

The Impact of a Grateful Heart

Among all the shopping, eating, and gathering with family, do we make time to be thankful? We can give thanks because of whose we are. Because we belong to Jesus, God blesses us with peace that we can't understand. Our identity helps us give thanks in all circumstances and our actions declare how thankful we are.

Beyond the Call

A warrior's purpose is to please the king. As warriors our goal is to claim victory. Warriors may not always understand, but we are always to serve. We should ask ourselves: 1. What am I doing to please my King this week? 2. Will my trust in the Lord lead me to certain victory this week? 3. Am I willing to keep on serving tomorrow, even though I don't understand today?
